Changes to legislation now means learner drivers can now complete their L2 assessments with an accredited RACT Driver Training instructor/assessor. RACT has assessors available at our schools in Hobart, Burnie, Launceston and Devonport. The benefit of undertaking an L2 assessment with RACT is that you can take the test with an assesor who you know and feel comfortable with.
The L2 assessment is a practical assessment whichtakes about 25 minutes. It tests students on their general driving knowledge and road rules. An L2 assessment costs $130 and can be booked statewide by calling 1300 761 429.
During the L2 licensing stage you must record a minimum of 50 hours of logged supervised driving, over a minimum of nine months.
This stage is important for getting a driver prepared for driving on
their own and will help with not only basic car control skills (which clearly remain important) but also those higher order skills that can only be developed over time, with greater experience on the road and in a range of driving environments and conditions.
