The results from the RACT Vehicle Operating Costs survey for 2018 are in and have found the average cost of owning a car in Tasmania has risen by 3% to more than $217 per week.

Vehicle Operating Costs survey that assesses the cost of 138 vehicles in 14
categories. The survey gives new car buyers everything they need to know before
they step into the car showroom.
found that some of the most cost-effective vehicles included the Mitsubishi
Mirage ES at $105.37 per week, the Suzuki Swift GL Hatchback at $109.60 per
week, the Kia Cerato S 5d Hatchback at $123.68 per week and the Suzuki Vitara
RT-S at $142.84 per week.
costs such as rising fuel prices, servicing, registration and insurance can
significantly increase the cost of owning a vehicle.
