RACT is urging all road users to exercise caution when travelling along the Great Eastern Drive when upgrades to the touring route, between Orford and St Helens, commence later this year.
The State Government allocated $30 million towards road improvements along the route – to be completed by 2023 - in July as part of its 10-year Infrastructure Pipeline.
Stage 1 works, to commence later this year, include installation a north-bound overtaking lane at Cranbrook (north of Glen Gala Road), junction upgrades to Beaumaris Beach, Dark Hollow Creek, Freshwater Street, Skyline Drive as well as improvements to the pull over area at Four Mile Creek.
Future stages are still in the planning phase. The Government is urging people to offer feedback on the works, which you can provide here until 4pm on August 31. Feedback may be used in the planning and development of future project stages.
The works are intended to increase safety for road users, enhance the experience for increasing visitor numbers and vehicles, while also improving travel times.
Updates on the works can be found on the Department of State Growth website as they commence.
