The peak national motoring and mobility organisation, the Australian Automobile Association (AAA) has welcomed a major commitment to upgrade the Bruce Highway as a significant step forward in improving safety and travel times in Queensland.

The RACT has joined with Australia’s other motoring organisations to fund and support a major national campaign led by the Australian Au​tomobile Association (AAA) in the run-up to the Federal election: Demand Better Roads. The aims are to improve the quality and safety of nationally funded roads, national action for road safety, and to protect motorists’ rights.

RACT analysis suggests fuel companies are punishing motorists with higher prices, especially in Tasmania, the ACT, the Northern Territory and regional markets, to prop up lower prices in the "Big 5" capital cities.

North Melbourne stars were on hand at Lindisfarne’s Anzac Park today to put participants from the RACT Community Cup through their paces in preparation for their clash at Blundstone Arena on Saturday, 4 May.

In the first quarter of 2013 – January to March – RACT ROADSIDE was called to help 19,664 stranded motorists. That’s an average of 218 calls to 13 11 11 each day.

Tasmania’s premier Australian rules football competition is back for another year, with the RACT Insurance Tasmanian State League kicking off on Good Friday with Lauderdale facing off against Hobart at the TCA Ground at 2.00pm and Launceston and North Launceston doing battle at Windsor Park at 3.00pm.

The RACT is celebrating its 90th anniversary on 23 March. 90 years ago - in 1923 - a Hobart cafe witnessed a meeting of motoring enthusiasts to consider how to support the new freedom the motoring mobility created. Today the RACT has some 190,000 members.

​​28/02/13 - Friday, strike-day: motorists need to ‘do it differently’ to help offset Metro action
The RACT has called for patience and courtesy on the roads tomorrow morning during the Metro bus drivers’ strike. At the same time, the RACT says some planning by commuters will help offset any congestion problems.

The RACT want to see clear evidence of the safety outcomes of lowering the speed limit on Hobart's Macquarie and Davey Streets, or variable speed limit signs should be installed.

​​​08/02/13 - RACT’s new community engagement appointment in focus at Festivale
RACT is a long-time supporter of Festivale, and staff will be on hand on Saturday (9 February) and will run competitions for Festivale patrons throughout the day. Entry into the competitions is free. The day’s program is being overseen by RACT’s recently-appointed Community Engagement and Education Manager, Kathy Stocks.

31/01/13 - 110km/h on the Brighton Bypass...finally
The RACT understands that DIER will install new 110km/h speed limit signs, replacing the 100km/h current signs, on the new Brighton Bypass section of the Midland Highway today. RACT has lobbied for this outcome since the opening of this section of the bypass in November 2012.

The RACT is advising motorists that Australia Day events around the state this weekend will see more vehicles on the road than usual for a long weekend.

​​21/01/13 - New Tasman Highway electronic speed signs: RACT says motorists need more than one month to adjust
The RACT says it wants Tasmania Police to provide a three month grace period when new variable speed limits come into operation on the Tasman Highway in Hobart today.

18/01/13 - Roadside by the numbers: RACT breakdown statistics. Fourth Quarter 2012
In the fourth quarter of 2012 – October to December – RACT ROADSIDE was called to help 19,329 stranded motorists. That’s an average of 210 calls to 13 11 11 each day (81,343 calls in 2012).

Players from the North Melbourne Kangaroos will be on hand today to put young mothers from the RACT ‘Community Cup’ teams through their paces, in preparation for the community football event to be played before the Kangaroos v Port Adelaide game on 4 May at Blundstone Arena.

The RACT is warning motorists using the Arthur Highway and other words to take extreme caution and obey temporary speed limits to ensure safety.

Aurora Stadium's 6000-seat, two-tiered grandstand will be rebranded as the 'RACT Stand', after a four-year sponsorship deal was struck between the Launceston City Council and the RACT.

RACT Insurance will be providing periods of grace, extending cover and waiving dishonour fees for policy holders affected by the bushfires in the State’s south, in order to give customers additional time to meet their premium payments.
