Call to stay safe on our roads
As we move towards returning to normal traffic on our roads, we’re reminding motorists to stay safe.
We've had a horror start to the year, with 15 deaths and 77 serious injuries in the first three months.
We're a member of the Australian Automobile Association (AAA), which has released its quarterly benchmarking report into the National Road Safety Strategy (NRSS).
It showed that in the 12 months to end-March 2020, 37 people died on Tasmania’s roads. This is an increase of more than 23 per cent on the 12 months to end-March 2019.
The report also showed Tasmania’s road deaths per 100,000 population stood at 6.91. This was the second highest in the country behind the Northern Territory and well above the national figure of 4.53.
