On the road

Changes to driver's licence renewals.

To reduce person-to-person contact, the Government has brought in new steps to help you renew your driver’s licence.

If your driver’s licence is due to expire between 1 April and 30 September 2020, you can now renew it through BPAY by emailing [email protected] or calling 1300 135 513 Service Tasmania.

For Tassie residents aged 65+ with a licence expiring before 30 September, the good news is it’ll be automatically renewed for one year. This won’t cost you anything and it’ll be sent to you in the mail.

If you need a medical test to renew your licence, this will be deferred for six months, unless you have a high-risk condition. For these drivers, State Growth will consider these case-by-case, and will contact you if a medical test is needed.
