Homemade Herb Salt
Making your own herb salt is simple, a great way to use up an abundance of herbs and it’s perfect as a gift too.
There are plenty of herbs you can use. It can be one that you use a lot, such as parsley, or you can create your own blend with several different herbs. Here’s a list of our favourites:
- Parsley
- Dill
- Mint
- Oregano
- Sage
- Rosemary
Pick enough herbs to loosely fill three cups. Wash and remove the coarse stems or discoloured leaves and dry thoroughly. Then take ½ cup of coarse salt and your herbs, put into a food processor and pulse until you have a coarse blend. Be careful not to over grind, otherwise you’ll end up with a paste. Now put the mixture into a glass jar and place in the fridge for 7-14 days to let the flavours meld. Give the jar a shake every day or so. Now it’s ready to use and will keep for up to six months.
