Gallery broadens its focus

The Cradle Mountain Wilderness Gallery has been officially re-opened by RACT Patron, the Governor of Tasmania, Her Excellency Professor the Honourable Kate Warner, AC.

The Gallery has had a major redevelopment to showcase Tasmanian artists and provide visitors with interactive and unique experiences that capture the nature, life and love of our island state.

The transformation of the gallery has included large installations, spaces for children and a Tasmanian tiger exhibition that provides a glimpse into the life of this elusive animal.

Originally set up to showcasewilderness photography, the gallery has now expanded to other art forms including sculpture, video installations, painting and drawing.

There are five galleries dedicated to the work of Tasmanian artists, with one gallery dedicated to the work of Peter Dombrovskis, one of the world's best-known wilderness photographers.

His gallery features some of his most popular works as well as images from wilderness photographers around the world who together have been able to capture the unique wilderness within Tasmania.

In addition, the gift shop at the Gallery has had a complete renovation, with the addition of a library and reading area, a Tasmanian honey tasting area and an expanded range of local products available for purchase.
