Safety call for our roadside patrols

Think it would be scary to be working while cars fly past you at more than 90km/h? This is a reality for our roadside patrols every day.

We’re hoping we can make their jobs safer, and keep those people we help on the roadside safe as well.

The State Government hopes to bring in laws later this year that will make drivers slow down to 40km/h or less when they’re driving in the same direction as emergency response vehicles (such as police, fire or ambulance with red and blue flashing lights) or heavy vehicle safety cars (with magenta flashing lights) that are stopped on the side of the road.

While we think this is great, we’d like to see our roadside patrols and tow trucks (with amber flashing lights) included as well.
