Braving the Cold for Shorts Day 2025
On Friday, June 20, thousands of Tasmanians dug out their shorts, stepped outside, and had conversations that mattered. It was all part of Shorts Day, an annual initiative from SPEAK UP! Stay ChatTY, aimed at breaking down the stigma surrounding mental health.
RACT was once again proud to be the Official Supporter of Shorts Day, promoting the exceptional work of Stay ChatTY and encouraging meaningful conversations about mental health across the community. Through its work, RACT sees the impacts of mental health, from supporting those affected by house fires to advocating for road safety.
Talking about mental health isn’t always easy, much like wearing shorts on a cold day.
From schools and sports clubs to workplaces and local cafés, Shorts Day inspired a wave of support and visibility across Tasmania. By pulling on a pair of shorts, participants showed others that it’s okay to speak up, seek help, and support each other through tough times.
RACT encouraged all its members to get behind this powerful initiative. On Shorts Day, the community was bold, brave, and, most importantly, part of the conversation.
RACT staff hosted events across branches and offices, while also engaging in meaningful conversations about mental health, further solidifying the commitment to supporting the well-being of Tasmanians.
