Works to commence on Bridgewater Bridge

Much needed maintenance works will take place on the Bridgewater Bridge in February 2022 to ensure it remains operational until the new bridge is constructed in 2024.

The work is expected to start from Monday 28 February 2022 and will take place between 7am and 5pm, Monday to Sunday. Completion is expected by late May 2022, weather permitting.

The following traffic impacts can be expected during the work:

Saturday 19 March 2022 and Sunday 20 March 2022

The Bridgewater Bridge will be closed for short periods of up to 15 mins, weather permitting. Road users will be notified if the work is postponed to a different weekend, via electronic message boards placed on the Brooker Highway and Midland Highway approaching the Bridgewater Bridge. Between bridge closures, the bridge will be open to let traffic through with a reduced speed limit of 40 km/h. Road users should allow for delays of up to 25 minutes during the bridge closures. Alternatively, motorists can detour via the Bowen Bridge or Tasman Bridge - please allow an extra 15 mins travel time for these detours.

Other times during work hours

There will be a reduced speed limit of 40 km/h around the work area. Road users should allow up to 8 mins extra travel time.
