Travelling overseas soon and planning to drive? You can now organise to get your International Driving Permit at any RACT store. Rather than applying online and waiting time for it to arrive, you can instead pick it up on the spot.
All seven of our stores are equipped to offer this service, providing ease and convenience to Tasmanians.
What you'll need to bring in with you in store:
Passport photo - a passport-style photo with a plain white background. If you're applying online, you can use a free passport photo app on your phone.
Drivers licence - your physical, current drivers licence. We can’t accept temporary licences. You’ll need to wait until you get your actual licence before you can apply.
Apply online is still available
You can also apply online. We'll deliver your IDP within 3 business days for metro areas. Please allow longer for public holidays, regional or international deliveries. Or you can choose to collect from an RACT store - after 2 business days. You’ll receive an email notification when it’s ready to collect. For security purposes, applicants must collect their own IDP and present valid ID.
The Australian Automobile Association (AAA) is the only authorised distributor of IDPs for Australian driver's licence holders. RACT will process your IDP on behalf of the AAA as their sales agent.
