Alex McKenzie
Alexander McKenzie was elected to the RACT Group in 2022 and is also a director of RACT Insurance, bringing valuable community connections and governance expertise to these roles. Based in Burnie on Tasmania's North West Coast, Alexander maintains strong links across the community services sector, government, and business community through his extensive board experience and legal practice.
Alexander is a Director at McLean McKenzie & Topfer, where he has practiced civil litigation since 2016, becoming a partner in 2021. He holds a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Public Policy and a Bachelor of Laws with Honours from the University of Tasmania (2013) and was admitted to practice in 2014. His litigation practice encompasses workplace injuries, medical negligence, motor vehicle accidents, and commercial matters, giving him direct insight into the impact of road trauma on Tasmanian families and communities.
His community leadership includes serving as President of the Tasmanian Council of Social Services (TasCOSS) from 2019, having joined its board in 2017, and as a former Director of the Tasmanian Community Fund. Alexander was also President of the North West Young Lawyers Committee and was recognised as Tasmania's Young Lawyer of the Year in 2017. Alexander also currently serves on the Board of the Tasmania Law Reform Institute.
Alexander is committed to contemporary governance standards and has advised organisations on director duties and best practice frameworks. He is passionate about RACT's mission of building meaningful relationships with all Tasmanians and represents regional Tasmania's perspective on the board. Outside of his professional commitments, Alexander enjoys cycling, sailing, and spending time at Sisters Beach with his partner, daughter, and dog Pudding.
