Tony Coleman
Tony is a distinguished actuary and corporate director with over 50 years of experience across insurance, finance, and risk management sectors. He holds a BA and MBA from Macquarie University, along with an Honorary Doctorate of Business, and is a Fellow of both the Institute of Actuaries of Australia and the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Tony's executive career includes senior roles at IAG (Chief Risk Officer and Group Actuary), PricewaterhouseCoopers (Corporate Finance Partner), and various positions at leading financial institutions. During his tenure as IAG's CRO, Standard & Poor's recognized the company as one of only seven insurers globally with "Excellent" risk management processes.
His non-executive director portfolio demonstrates broad expertise, with current Board positions including Munich Re Australia & New Zealand and Greenpeace Asia Pacific. Previous directorships include AMP Life Limited (Chair of Audit & Risk Committees), Low Carbon Australia (Founding Director and Chair of Audit Committee), Antarctic Climate & Ecosystem CRC, and Max BUPA Health Insurance in India.
Tony has made significant contributions to the actuarial profession, serving as President of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia in 2001 and receiving the "Actuary of the Year" award in 2004. He also played a pivotal role in insurance regulatory reform following the HIH collapse and contributed extensively to work of the IASB in the development of the international insurance accounting standard IFRS 17.
