Safe homes, stronger communities
We're partnering with Crime Stoppers this summer to help Tasmanians keep their homes secure and their communities safe.
Protecting what matters
Summer in Tasmania is a time for longer days, outdoor adventures, and making the most of the warmer weather. Unfortunately, it’s also when home break-ins and contents theft tend to rise. Tasmania Police data shows a clear uplift in burglary across the warmer months, particularly in the south of the state.
At RACT, we believe safer homes make for stronger communities. That’s why we’ve joined forces with Crime Stoppers Tasmania, a trusted, independent organisation that empowers people to report crime safely and anonymously. Together, we share a commitment to helping educate the community and keeping home security front of mind, so Tasmanians can feel confident their homes and belongings are protected.
Over the past five years, we’ve paid more than $4.6 million in theft-related home and contents claims, a clear sign of how significant the impact of burglary can be for Tasmanian households. This partnership reflects our shared goal: to support safer neighbourhoods and help Tasmanians protect what matters most.
With home security risks increasing over summer, now’s the perfect time to take simple steps that make a real difference. You don’t need expensive systems or complex setups, just a few small actions can help deter thieves and keep your home safe.

How Crime Stoppers can help
If you see any suspicious behaviour in your area or believe a crime has occurred, it’s important to report it - even if it seems minor. In an emergency or if a burglary is in progress, call Triple Zero (000) immediately.
For non-urgent situations, such as reporting a break-in after it has happened or sharing information about suspicious activity, contact Tasmania Police on 131 444 or visit your local police station. You can also provide anonymous information through Crime Stoppers Tasmania on 1800 333 000 or online.
Every report helps Tasmania Police keep our communities safe and informed - and ensures the right support is available when people need it.
