Secure your cargo

Ever locked your keys in the car? Or left a window down? It’s easy for mishaps to happen leaving your car open to damage. We’ve got a checklist to help out.

Keys

While it's easy to lose track of your keys, don't be tempted to leave a spare key on your wheel or in a magnetic key holder under your car. This is the first place any thief is going to look. Perhaps you're able to keep a copy at work or with a friend incase you do end up either losing your keys or locking them in.

Likewise, at home, make sure your car keys are kept out of sight, away from doors and windows.

Security

When you get out, make sure your car is locked and the windows are shut. Don't make it easy for intruders to gain access to your gear. Also don't tempt them by leaving valuables in plain sight.

If you park in a garage, make sure the garage doors and windows are secure, and make sure alarms and other anti-theft devices are activated. If you own an older car, consider using a steering wheel lock, wheel lock or other anti-theft accessories. Also, it's worth considering investment in a vehicle tracking device to help aid police in locating your vehicle if it's stolen.

Make sure everything is protected with the right cover so if anything does happen, you're not put out more than you need to be.
