Expert panel meets for future mobility workshop

The RACT’s independent panel of experts attended a workshop at the University of Tasmania today ahead of the Greater Hobart Mobility Vision Forum on 19 November 2018.

The five panelists, who were selected for their diverse expertise on future mobility, each presented their findings and proposals based on RACT’s refined list of submissions from key stakeholders and the community.

Main themes to come from the panelists included Tasmania’s ageing population and the need for connected communities, the development of mass transit that links major points of the city, urban planning in the core of Hobart, the potential for new technologies such as autonomous vehicles and the assessment of land use to attract a new market of people to Hobart.

The RACT is looking forward to discussing these themes more broadly and shaping a future mobility vision that it can advocate for on behalf of all Tasmanians at a free public forum on 19 November 2018 at 5:30pm at the University of Tasmania’s Stanley Burbury Theatre.
